Bugs

Bugs are part of the order Hemiptera

Bugs are a type of insect.

Bugs characteristically have tough forewings.

Bugs lack teeth.

Bugs have a stylet which is a mouth shaped like a straw that they use to suck juices from plants.

Bugs go through an incomplete metamorphosis.

Common bugs are stink bugs and aphids.

Insects

Insects are a small type of invertebrate animal that belongs to the class Insecta under the phylum Arthropoda.

Around six to ten million insect species can be found in the world

All insects are found under the Insecta class – bugs are a part of that class.

Insects consist of several orders.

Insects always have three body parts – Head, Thorax, and Abdomen.

Insects have six legs. 

Can have different types of mouths – sucking, sponging or chewing.

Go through complete metamorphosis.

The four stages of the life cycle are egg, larva/nymph, pupa, and adult.

Common insects are bees, crickets, fly, butterflies, grasshoppers, mosquitos, and ants

Arthropods

Arthropod is a separate phylum from bugs and insects.

Commonly known arthropods are spiders and centipedes
